How To Deal With The Economic Catastrophe

By National Buffoon Recreational Coordinator - Ralph Inghagain

Stimulus 101

The last time an economic depression had us by our jewels, you couldn't even legally buy alcohol. When F.D.R. lifted the ban, the outlook improved considerably. In fact, so thankful was the citizenry that they elected him president 4 times...had he not passed on due to polio, I imagine he'd still be leading this country! Bans and prohibitions accomplish one thing. They create underground economies, they artificially balloon the prices of the banned commodity, make criminals out of people who have harmed no one, and create a giant unneeded expense attempting to enforce the ban. The speakeasies and bootlegger industry was the only one that truly boomed during the Great Depression. Legalize and tax the banned substances. The windfall would make the govt. solvent, and grand investments in the future could be made. The expensive and completely ineffective "war on drugs" money could be used for education, the space program, R&D, or removing the ludicrous debts racked up by Reagan and Bush. The U.S. could again actually produce something other than Ponzi Schemes.

Prosperity Is Just around The Corner (In The Bar)

Which leads me by way of my own tortured madness-- to believe that it's up to imbibers to get this current economy back on its feet. If not now, when? If not us, who? Let’s be frank: teetotalers are a pessimistic and morbid lot. What do they care if the economy goes to hell? Their lives suck anyway, what’s one more shadow in a pit of dank dark gloom?

Stupor men and buzzed ladies on the other hand, are the very personification of optimism and hope. When Katrina smashed New Orleans and everything went to hell, which businesses remained open, which group kept their wits about them and organized havens of civility and order? The bars and the drunks, that's who.

Historically, imbibers have always held high the torch of hope where others fell into despair and whimpered for mercy. Sometimes it meant setting things on fire with that torch, but that was just to wake those gloomy bastards up. Yes, it is plain we must march (or stagger and crawl) forward and inspire the country with our natural confidence and cheer. We must be liquored-up Churchills defiantly winging empty bottles at the encroaching fascist darkness; we must be rum-emboldened John Paul Joneses informing the bouncers of doom that while they may well have us in a masterful headlock, we will vomit on them if they don't let go!

The phrase of the day should not be “Who is John Galt?” but rather “Go tell it to the drunkards.” The drunks will set them straight, especially if they’re buying.

That’s not to say the government can’t pitch in, and here’s how:

Allow drinking on the job. So long as there isn’t risk to life or limb involved, workers would be allowed to have at it while on the clock. A pint of beer on every desk, a bottle of vodka in every watercooler, a giddy smile on every face. A great fleet of portable bars manned by smiling bartenders should roll through every office building and factory like great harbingers of hope. Imagine the inspiration and motivation this would unleash. Chaps would be storming into work 15 minutes early, practically demanding to get down to business!!!

Force bars to stay open 24/7. That whole “last call” thing plainly smacks of defeatism. Millions of new bartending, cocktail waitress and cab driver jobs would open up (I think we already have enough bouncers), and it would foster a real sense that the nation is ready to get rolling again, at any possible moment. It would create more opportunity for entrepreneurs to hatch those brilliant schemes that can only be incubated in bars, like topless golf courses and round-the-clock hovercraft service to New Orleans. Instead of moping around at home, absorbing horrific bummers from black-hearted media barons, citizens would be out amongst their own, ferociously stimulating the economy. Not to mention each other if they are consenting adults...which of course they are.

Every worker receives a six-pack, jug of wine or bottle of liquor with each paycheck. The effect would be immediate. It would not only serve to rid the workforce of a great deal of stress, it would instill massive amounts of consumer confidence. There’s nothing like a skinful of booze to make you want to go out and spread some capital around. It would galvanize the shiftless into getting jobs. Not to mention the boost it would give the alcohol industry—did you know the US beer industry alone employs 1.8 million people? With a little meager effort we can surely double that.

Happy days (daze) are here again! Prosperity is just around the corner (in a bar)!

Cheers!

THE CANDIDATES BLAME WEATHER FOR ECONOMIC FAILURE
Campaign spokesmen for McCain, Obama, RadioFreeEuropa-Tehranchik, Bob Barr, Cynthia Ann McKinney, Ralph Nader, and Charles O. Baldwin have issued a joint statement placing the blame for the current economic crisis on unregulated cirrus clouds and their effect on marijuana crops domestically and abroad. Though the candidates differ on solutions to the problem.

RFE-TC have issued a policy statement that they would in fact do away with the Fed altogether
and return to the Gold standard (Cuervo and Acapulco). Their GRASSroots organization has been conducting field research in Columbia, Hawaii, Jamaica and their basements since the earliest BUDding days of the Campaign. Tehranchik said in an interview on CNBC earlier this week "Under a regulated UV lamp of RFE-TC stimulus, our economy will MUSHROOM!"
RFE meanwhile issued a press release calling for drastically increasing the GNP (Grass National Product) eliminating the trade imbalance. "Don't underestimate American ingenuity, we the people can smoke the competition!" he implored.

"Our policy just makes SENS...." he further added that farm subsidies would need to be increased to stabilize the market after many years of over regulation which drove prices up artificially. The AP is reporting that poles taken from barbershops indicate RFE-TC's appointment of Tommy Chong to head the ATF has been favorably received by 80% of the public. (Of course 73% of all statistics are just made up.)

Palin's Version Of The Last Supper
The Other Candidates Weigh In As Well
GOP Flips Bird At America
McCain and Bush announce their new energy plan.
Burn wildlife fouled from oil spills!
"We'll sell 'em to ya cheap" said Palin at a rally of
insane uneducated racists. "N' they are renewable!...at least fer a while."

"Our administration will be made up entirely of fictional characters to match the entirely fictional policies we propose."

Don't forget to vote folks!
